C'est L'Halloween!
French Toast and English Muffin came to school today! We are so excited for a fun Halloween day! First the parade then the dance and later a fun filled day of Halloween activities! Students are practicing their Halloween French vocab lots today and hopefully they can use some tonight as they trick or treat - friandises ou bêtises! Joyeuse Vendredi!
What a busy Friday! Today we spent more time describing the weather, practicing Halloween and Fall vocabulary, presented our poems and even had our very first French listening test. Ask your child what the mini test was like! We also took our first look at the google slideshow about our progress that we will be adding to periodically throughout the year. This slideshow is a list of some of the key things that we can now do in French! We have come a very long way. To see the slideshow, please click on the hyperlink below. "Je peux!" - "I can!" https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1mzHW9yJ8FXmOr9rypR_xoacXAabuY-kED_0tAwW4IZI/edit?usp=sharing The remainder of our videos and songs used for October have also been added under Resources -> October. Next week students will take home their duotangs filled with poems again so be on the lookout for these! L'Halloween s'approche!
Halloween is coming! To prepare we are beginning to learn the many vocabulary words that come along with this super fun holiday. Check out the resources tab under Chansons --> Octobre to see our two favourite Halloween songs so far. Ask your child what words they remember from today! Dans ma salle de classe
Today we had a treasure hunt for our new classroom labels! These are just the beginning of learning the French words for the things we use in class every day. Ask your child what words they remember from today! As they grow more comfortable with these terms you may begin to hear them at home from time to time! Notre visite à Springridge!
We were so lucky to have phenomenal weather for our very first field trip in Grade 1! Springridge Farm was a blast. We took a wagon ride, learned about the different types of pumpkins, walked through the Boo Barn, looked at the escarpment from the lookout above the farm, met a turkey, fed the goats and of course - picked our very own pumpkins! All while getting a chance to play all around the farm. Ask your child how to say "pumpkin" in French (citrouille) and what they enjoyed most! Here are a few photos from today's activities: Bonjour Octobre!
